Mental Math Game: Dawn of the Quants
Dawn of the Quants is a free mental math game you play in your browser. It is a pixel-art zombie shooter where your only weapon is arithmetic: every zombie carries a sum, and you type the answer to shoot it. Answer fast and the room is clear. Answer slowly and a zombie reaches you.
How it trains mental arithmetic
The questions are the ones timed arithmetic tests are made of: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, then fractions, percentages, squares and square roots, quick "which is bigger?" comparisons, and short probability and finance questions on the toughest zombies. You climb ten ranks, from a local bank branch to a market maker, and each rank asks for more speed.
After every round the game shows the problems that cost you the most time, each with a faster way to work it out. The DOJO practice mode drills your slow spots on their own, and the STATS chart tracks your time per answer and your accuracy round by round, so you can watch yourself get quicker.
Practice for quant and trading interviews
Many quant, trading and finance interviews include a timed mental arithmetic test. The game estimates your score on a common 2-minute test (right answers in 120 seconds) and shows, anonymously, how fast you are compared with other players at the same rank. It is practice, not a prediction: the estimate is a guide.
